When: March 2011 – September 2012

Location: East Brunswick

Team: Michelle Emma James + Ammon Beyerle + Peter Spence + Vignesh Prasad Chandrasekaran + Liling Kong + Tim Derham

This project was to update a detached Edwardian home. Constrained by a tight budget and small space, we need to provide living options for a growing family - a flexible space for everyday use and special occasions as well as modernising the amenity and services - by doubling a bathroom in one room, adding a new bedroom, tiny laundry, new kitchen pantry and living room.

This project was a challenging case study in learning how to deliver 'affordable everyday architecture' for a very low design fee.

Early on Pete used dinosaur names for each of the various schemes throughout the design development phase. The client was keen for the documentation set to be called 'Triceratops'.

here studio was engaged through concept design, design development, town planning and construction documentation.
