When: December 2011 - June 2014

Client: St George's Anglican Church

Location: 201 Arthurs Seat Road, Red Hill, VIC 3931

Team: Richard Falkinger (partner), Michelle Emma James, Ammon Beyerle, Katherine Sampson

This project has been the dream of some members of the community for many years, and it was reignited in September 2011 in conversations that included heritage architect Richard Falkinger, Baillieu Myer (who attends the church) and The Rector Catherine Eaton. As well as improving the current church, the dream has been to make the site something special that may offer a quiet place for people to visit from the immediate community and abroad. Richard invited here studio to partner with him on a project to raise, refurbish and extend the small church and school hall building in Red Hill, on the Mornington Peninsula.

Ammon met Richard Falkinger in August 2009 at St Paul's Cathedral Melbourne, working with Urban Village Melbourne Inc to encourage the development of St Paul's Cathedral carpark (The Close), Flinders St, Melbourne. Richard Falkinger has now been generously involved in three of our projects Cathedral Place (as UVM - Sustainable Urban Ecologies P/L), Community of Chapter House Lane (A City of Melbourne Community Services Grant as Urban Village Melbourne Inc), and Close Over(p)lay (a University of Melbourne, Masters Design Studio). This project for St George's Anglican Church in Red Hill, is our first full architectural project together.

Construction was completed in June and an opening dedication service was held on 6 July 2014.
