Additional Volunteers: Richard Keech, Jim, Alicia, Vignesh Prasad Chandrasekaran, Wendy Sharples, Craig Harris, Daniel Dundas, Charlie Payne, ...

Presented by: Beyond Zero Emissions

"Watch an average Australian house transform into a zero-carbon, low-energy, high-performance home before your eyes! Based on the Zero Carbon Australia Buildings Plan, due for release in May 2012." (BZE events announcement)

As part of the Sustainable Living Festival, Beyond Zero Emissions staged a live retrofit performance that will physically demonstrate some of the best steps to improve the energy usage of a common Australian home. These are some of the important details that through energy reduction and efficiency, support the Zero Carbon Australia 2020 Stationary Energy Plan. (See also UVM project in 2010)

The performance mixed a presentation of some key proposals from the ZCA2020 Buildings Plan with video and a funny, Brechtian-style moving stage-set show. The performance relied on volunteer labour, donated and scavenged materials, and some sponsorship.

This project was our 4th with BZE; here studio volunteered set design and sequencing, lots of building labour and provided general events management advice as part of the core organising team.
